Life in EMS
An autobiography by Brian Bartlow.
“This book was written for all Emergency Medical Service (EMS) personnel; paramedics, emergency medical technicians (EMT), firefighters, police, veterans and anyone involved in safety and health. I wanted to share my stories and how I cope with everyday life, with the hopes of helping others to understand what happens to the mind after responding to certain calls. A career in EMS can be a difficult one; seeing and responding to calls that the brain will have difficulty to even process. We are there to provide care for these situations. I will share my thoughts and views of calls I’ve responded to as well as discuss my views on religion. Please remember, this is my viewpoint and it in no way is to discard your religious experiences.
I will discuss how I began my career in EMS, where it’s taken me and its effect on my life. After 25+ years in EMS, I still currently work as a Paramedic in Northern California, so I have seen and done a lot throughout my career. I will go into detail on some of the 911 calls that have left a lasting impression on me, mentally and physically.”
